5.0 out of 5 stars Emotionally Gripping with an Engaging Historical Story June 18, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have to say that "Leadville: 300 Days Away" managed to very quickly suck me in and take me on a journey of emotionally charged drama, political and social intrigue, war-time mentality and the human elements that bind us together. Kara Skye Smith does a wonderful job of weaving a story that touches your heart and winds around you, drawing you into a story about a group of Tibetan resistance fighters who find themselves on a journey of both heart and soul as they get caught up in a CIA project centered in Leadville, Colorado.

What I liked about the novel is that it manages to be historical authentic while fleshing out the deeper human stories that centered around that time... stories of love, danger, drama, empathy, courage, anger and hope. The novel is evocative, engaging, vividly written and has a fast pace that just transports you to another time and place. This was certainly a promising introduction to Kara Skye Smith for me as an author and it left me eager to see what else she has written, because this was a heartfelt and engaging story that certainly left an impression.
